Jesse Kanner portraitJesse Kanner has served as Technical Consultant, Developer and Departmental Manager for a variety of Internet and entertainment companies. He received his BA in Computer Music from the University of California at San Diego where he first began designing computer-based multimedia systems.

Jesse left college and began working as a recording engineer on staff at Lion Share Recording Studios and later at Jackson Browne’s Groovemaster Studios. He worked with many high profile musicians and entertainers and on a variety of CD, jingle and soundtrack projects.

He segued into developing custom database systems for various businesses such as import and wholesale, publishing and restaurants. In the mid 1990’s his attention shifted to the Internet, and he began developing interactive entertainment projects for the first generation of online digital pioneers.

Jesse served as Director of Operations for MetaWire, Inc. where he designed and deployed high bandwidth networks for the entertainment production community. He also supervised all technical operations for the NewsCorp / MCI joint venture office at the 20th Century Fox lot in Los Angeles from 1995 through 1997. Projects included the first Major League Baseball online sales system, the iGuide entertainment portal and the official X-Files web site.

As the 1990’s drew to a close, Jesse continued working on online interactive systems for a variety of companies. He ran the Web Technologies department for Studiosoftware. Projects included an interactive kiosk system for Bank of America and close involvement with Universal Music’s E-CAT labs, designing the interface and user experience for the next generation of secure online music distribution.

He later served as interim VP of Technology for Bain and Company on their fledgling e-commerce craft supplies portal site (now known as joann.com). From there he took a staff position at Bill Gross’s idealab! where he worked as Project Manager and Business Analyst for startups such as Blastoff, Commission Junction and dotTV.

Jesse re-located to New York City to serve as consultant to Elektra Entertainment Group’s New Media department where he managed the relationship with parent company Warner Music Group. He was involved with day to day website production issues, tools development and long term technical and strategic planning.

He currently serves as Senior Director of Digital Strategy for EMI Music North America . He runs platform architecture and digital workflow design and oversees production of C-Dash, EMI’s online analytics portal.
